The Ides of March!

The Ides of March.....

A favorite in our house... first the parade and party on the Saturday before, then the Corn Beef and Irish music on Monday, the 17th  at our favorite Irish bar!  It is a month long celebration in our house!

2 years ago, the St. Patrick's Day parade was a shorts and short sleeve kind of a day.  A good old fashioned lawn party!  This year, I don't think we will be so lucky.   Temperatures are still below the average for March and snow if literally still falling as I write this!

Either way, we celebrate the fun of being Irish and welcome any little tiny sign of Spring to come soon!

Top of the 'Morning to Ye!

Celebrate the Month of March
an
St. Patrick's Day!

With a last name like ~ McDonough...we go all out for decorating and celebrating the holiday!  Each year we decorate the house, attend the city parade, always on the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day (all decked out in green from head to toe, mind you), have a wild Irish party after the parade, AND THEN... (breathe)..... Enjoy another day of festivities on the 17th!  Can you tell it is one of my favorite holidays??

Every year we try and out-do the year before.  Here's is what I have so far for 2013!

Here's to the Wearing o' the Green!

Decorating for the big day has never been easier....

A little Irish Subway Art, via Pinterest, to start ye off!  A great page to print out and frame for the occasion.

Of course, Glass Ornaments are a simple and elegant way to dress up any space :)

Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!

Happy March, Happy St. Patrick's Day, Happy Spring.....

At our house, we celebrate St. Patrick's Day from January 15 to the end of March!  Very fun!

Each year we plan a St. Patrick's Day party/open house for everyone and anyone we see, after the local city parade.  Usually we have between 35 to 50 people.  Everyone brings stuff to eat~all Irish related food or green/orange/rainbow stuff and drink, of course.

This year my husband is going away for a golf tournament that he was invited to, and we will miss him at the party.  But, "even though the Leprechaun's away, WE still want to play!"  That was my line on the invitation this year! ~from Smilebox. So funny!  And, there was a hysterical leprechaun dancing to a jig...

If you are ever having a party or want to send a note, a thank you, a birthday wish, hello - you name it.. .you need to check out www.smilebox.com.   It is the best!  You can add pictures, it plays music and there are tons and tons of options!  Oh, did I mention ~ it is free too!!!
Although, you may want to join, for a monthly fee, there are more options available if you are a member.
So, check it out if you get a chance.

Also, if you enjoy decorating... (hear comes my plug...) everyone could decorate for any occasion ~St. Patrick's Day ~ with solid colored glass ornaments!  My company, www.thewhitehurstcompany.com, offers one of the largest selections of glass ornaments in 9 sizes...from 1 1/4" up to a 7" glass ball.  We have over 17 shades of green available to choose from.  Here are a few of them:

Anyway, there are lots of ways to use these ornaments...

~place different shades of the glass ornaments in a bowl and place on a shelf.
~hang from different lengths with green ribbon from a chandelier,
~make a Shamrock Tree with stray branches in your yard, spraypaint them white and hang glass ornaments from them..etc...etc...

Basically, you can use glass ornaments everyway you always use them, just color coordinate them to the holiday!

Whether you are Irish, like to decorate for the holidays, or just enjoy the annual parade....
May the luck of the Irish always be with you and sun always shine upon your face....

Starting the Day off Right....

Positive Remarks always put you in a good mood... see below what one of our favorite customers are saying about us on their blog: www.besusan.blogspot.com...

please check out this beautiful blog when you get a chance.. you won't be disappointed.

"We spent a good hour in a favorite showroom ; Whitehurst. They specialize in the finest imported glass ornaments from about an inch to 8 inches! For years, Black-eyed Susan has been known for having these unusual sizes (you know, bigger is better!). Last year, I was really missing the addition of the 1" accent ornaments in as many colors and finishes as you can dream of. This year they'll be back! These little darlings have hundreds of uses and you can expect to see them in unusual settings throughout the showroom." -www.besusan.blogspot.com.
