The Ides of March!

The Ides of March.....

A favorite in our house... first the parade and party on the Saturday before, then the Corn Beef and Irish music on Monday, the 17th  at our favorite Irish bar!  It is a month long celebration in our house!

2 years ago, the St. Patrick's Day parade was a shorts and short sleeve kind of a day.  A good old fashioned lawn party!  This year, I don't think we will be so lucky.   Temperatures are still below the average for March and snow if literally still falling as I write this!

Either way, we celebrate the fun of being Irish and welcome any little tiny sign of Spring to come soon!

Happy February!

February 2012

There is so much to celebrate in February!  - if you are talking about the Groundhog ~  I heard Spring is on the way!!!  Here in Rochester, we have had Spring-like days and harsh Winter stormy days.... but, I wouldn't mind Spring-ier conditions.

There are so many other things to look forward to ~starting with tonight... The Super Bowl!  Who do you want to win?  My 12 year old won the first quarter - $2 from the family pool.   Then we have Mardi Gras, Valentine's Day, Winter Break from school, President's Day and the Grammy's to name a few.  So, I have put together a few pictures for February that show off great ways to use your left over Christmas decorations and decorate your home in a festive manner.

Enjoy~

Halloween Treats!

First, of all... it is good to be back... I guess I took the summer off!  Kids are now back at school and we again have a routine that we can semi count on...so, on to blogging....

Halloween Treats

The biggest "treat" for me is to decorate my home for Halloween. We usually have a party.. for the kids... so, I enjoy decorating and using all the fun, Fall colors.

I have purchased my Mums... orange, of course and next I will get out the decorations.  I started this weekend, but it is hard to put up pumpkins and ghords when it is 80 degrees out and the windows are open.

Pinterest is my new BFF... visit us at www.pinterest.com/thewhitehurstco.  Check out our Board ~ Glass Ornaments~Fall/Winter and our Board ~ Holiday Ideas.

On here, I have saved a ton of ideas on how to decorate for Fall and Halloween.  Thank Goodness, for all the creative people out there sharing their ideas.

Here are a couple of the images that I love:

Last Minute Halloween Decorations

via Pottery Barn

Break out the Christmas Ornaments.. why keep them in storage?.. create a tray in the foyer or as a centerpiece...

via BHG

via The Seasonal Home

From our friends at A Seasonal Home... they suggest taking a styrofoam wreath, add black toothpicks and hot glue small glass ornaments and add a bow... wah-lah...

Unless I come across some other GREAT examples of decorating for Halloween... I promise I am going to move on to Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Our first container is coming in tomorrow and we will be crazy getting out the most anticipated orders to all our customers over the next few days.  Then my mind will be 100% Christmas-thinking....Be aware... Christmas is only 66 days away!  Lots to do!

On October 31, 2011 ~  we are going to be launching a Holiday Display Contest using The Whitehurst Company's products.  Stay tuned for more details... very exciting stuff!!!
Have a great weekend!
